How to read the sizes

LWDLong way of the diamond, measured centre to centre.

SWDShort way of the diamond, measured centre to centre.

StrandThe width of the metal between the openings.

FFlattened. Codes ending in F have been rolled flat after expanding, so the sheet has a smooth surface.

RaisedLeft as it comes off the expanding press, with the strands set at an angle to the sheet.

M A G SThe letter after the number is the material: M mild steel, A aluminium, G pre-galvanised, S stainless.

Common questions

Can you cut expanded metal to size?

Yes. We cut sheets to size here in Bristol while you wait, and we can fold and fabricate panels, guards and walkways to your drawing.

What is the difference between flattened and raised expanded metal?

Raised expanded metal is left as it comes off the expanding press, so the strands sit at an angle to the sheet. Flattened expanded metal is rolled after expanding, so the strands lie flat and the sheet has a smooth surface.

How quickly can I get it?

Stock sheets go out on next working day delivery anywhere in the UK. Made-to-order sizes are usually ready in 5-7 days.

Can you supply a size that isn’t listed?

Often, yes. Tell us the diamond size, strand, thickness, material and quantity, or send us your drawing, and we’ll let you know what we can do.
