About 6240M
6240M is raised expanded mild steel with a 61 x 25.4mm diamond and 6.1mm strands, giving 55% open area. We keep it in stock, 4.5mm thick, in 2440 x 1220mm sheets.
Flattened or raised?
Raised expanded metal is left as it comes off the expanding press, so the strands sit at an angle to the sheet. Flattened expanded metal is rolled after expanding, so the strands lie flat and the sheet has a smooth surface. 6240M is raised.
What do LWD and SWD mean?
LWD is the long way of the diamond and SWD is the short way, both measured centre to centre. The strand is the width of the metal between the openings.
